Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum Toxin is a purified protein produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. It is used to cause medium term (around 2-6mths) relaxation of the muscle. This relaxation of the muscles can reduce lines or wrinkles which the movement of the muscle has formed.

Having Anti-Wrinkle injections can relax the muscles, reducing or removing the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles when you pull certain expressions such as frowning or raising your brows in surprise and also lifting the lower face. Fine or deep lines that are visible at rest may also be reduced but not always disappear completely. Lines at rest can also be treated and improved with skincare treatments such as micro-needling.

When treated regularly, Anti-Wrinkle injections can also prevent new fine lines and wrinkle from forming and prevent existing ones from getting deeper.

Botulinum Toxin is a prescription only medication, therefore it is essential to attend a consultation with us and our nurse prescriber, this can take place a couple of days or weeks prior to your appointment. We hold regular clinic days with our nurse usually on Saturdays. 

​

The price is per vial rather than per area, a single vial is usually enough to cover the 3 core upper face areas, forehead, frown lines and crows feet. If you would like any additions we will need 2 vials. If you only require forehead and frown lines then we'll have some left over to cover a couple of smaller add on's if requested. At your consultation we will discuss which areas you would like to be treated and whether we will need 1 vial or 2.
