IPL, Intense Pulse Light, is the use of a certain wavelength of light to breakdown the target, in this case the hair follicle. 

Once a hair follicle is successfully broken down and destroyed it can no longer produce new hair growth. This gives us a permanent solution to unwanted hair!

Results can vary from around 75-90% hair removal/reduction.​

It is recommended that a course of 6-10 treatments take place for best results. The amount varies from person to person and also depends on the area we area treating. ​

IPL is most suited to dark terminal (thicker) hair growth on lighter skin tones, as the wavelength of light needs to find the melanin (colour) in the hair and follow it through the skin to the base of the hair and the follicle. This means the most contrast there is between the hair colour and the skin colour , the easier it is to hit the target and the best results can be achieved.

 

That's not to say its unsuitable for darker skin tones, we can treat skin types on Fitzpatrick scale from 1-5, unfortunately skin tones the very top of the scale, Fitzpatrick type 6, are not safe for treatment and at risk of burns.

IPL is unsuitable for blond, red and grey hairs regardless of where your skin tone sits on the Fitzpatrick Scale. ​
